  • One Year Since I Walked Away

December 11th marks one year since I quit my job. It wasn’t a dramatic exit. No big announcement. No grand gesture. It was a quiet decision made after months of reflection, clarity, and the realization that I had outgrown a place I once loved. But the story of that day didn’t begin on December 11th. It started much earlier, during a season when everything still felt steady. Back When Everything Still Felt Good Only a few months before I resigned, I genuinely enjoyed my job. I liked the work. I liked the people. Even being one of only three women in a mostly male company, I felt comfortable and supported by my team. There was no drama in my department, and I had no thought of leaving. So when I met with my boss to share that my husband and I hoped to start trying for a baby in January 2025, my goal wasn’t to stir anything up. I simply wanted to prepare. I asked if the company would consider enacting FMLA and offering some maternity leave support, even if it was a small amount. As the breadwinner of my family, unpaid leave came with real financial challenges. He asked me to write a proposal. So I did. I spent time crafting a thoughtful letter outlining my needs, the reasoning behind them, and how we could find a solution that worked for both sides. Shortly after, the environment began to shift, and the level of respect I had once felt from my boss noticeably changed. When Things Quietly Began to Change Over the next several weeks, I noticed small changes in how conversations went, how decisions were made, and how my role was being managed. None of it happened overnight. It was gradual. Subtle. But noticeable. Leadership began leaning more heavily on managers, and I often found myself navigating unclear expectations and communication patterns that felt increasingly unpredictable, especially in how my boss communicated with me. I also began receiving feedback in ways that felt different from before, especially as my outside business became more visible. I had always been open about it, and it had never been an issue, but the tone around it shifted. There were also new expectations around how I presented myself professionally, and those expectations didn’t feel applied evenly across the team. It wasn’t unmanageable, but the inconsistency made it difficult to know where I stood. While I understood the desire for a polished appearance, the standards felt inconsistent across roles, and I struggled to find clarity on what was expected. It created a sense of pressure that hadn’t been there before. None of this made me angry. It just made me pay attention. So I started documenting things. Not out of spite, but because I needed clarity in a season where I no longer felt fully supported or understood by my boss, and writing helped me prepare for conversations and quarterly reviews that were becoming harder to navigate. I wanted to show up well in my role, and writing things down helped me do that. October 17th: The Day I Hit an Emotional Wall I’ll never forget October 17th. After a particularly difficult period at work, I sat in my car and cried. It wasn’t because something dramatic had happened. It was because the tone of my relationship with my boss had shifted so much that I no longer felt valued in the role I once gave everything to. It was the accumulation of weeks of feeling misaligned with an environment that used to feel so natural for me. That moment wasn’t anger. It wasn’t resentment. It was simply clarity. I realized I wasn’t thriving anymore, and frankly, I wasn’t being treated with the professional respect I had earned over nearly five years. And that meant something needed to change. The Decision to Invest in Myself On October 24th, I reached out to a business coach. I didn’t do it out of frustration. I did it because I knew I needed direction, support, and structure for where I wanted my business to go. I wanted to learn how to market myself, refine my offers, and build a brand that felt intentional. I invested in a 90 day program that started on October 25th and later extended another 30 days. That program changed everything for me. One assignment asked us to write a one page vision describing our ideal life. When I finished writing mine, I cried, not out of sadness, but because I saw clearly that the life I wanted required more flexibility, more creativity, and more autonomy than I had at the time. It wasn’t about my workplace being “bad.” It was about recognizing that the role I was in couldn’t get me to the future I was dreaming of. At the same time, my business was gaining traction. I had a strong revenue month earlier that fall, and the coaching program helped me see the potential for something sustainable and long term. Still, I wasn’t ready to leave yet. I kept telling myself I needed a clear sign… something undeniable. December 11th: The Sign I Had Been Waiting For That morning, I attended 1 Million Cups to network. I arrived at work about an hour late, planning to skip lunch to make up the time. Shortly after arriving, my boss asked to meet with me, joined by another team leader. He had printed my Calendly calendar and asked for clarity around my availability. I explained the system: my calendar was open from eight to five, but only one meeting could be booked per day, typically during my lunch hour, something I had structured based on advice from my coach when managing a full time job. He asked additional questions about my work from home days and about managing both roles. He questioned my ability to do both despite the reality of my schedule — waking up at 4am, working for ABJ before sunrise, working my full time job until 4pm, and then continuing ABJ work until 8pm or later. The overall message became clear with his questions: the company didn't trust me and didn't respect the business I built. To make him feel warm and fuzzy and "handle this situation", he requested me in-office five days a week and they planned to change my position from salaried to hourly. It was also painfully clear that my boss no longer respected me, and that realization made it impossible to stay. I wish things had ended on a better note, but they didn’t. That was the moment I knew. I kept telling myself I needed a clear sign, something I couldn’t ignore. And in that meeting, I felt God hand it to me plainly, even if it wasn’t the sign I expected. The role I was being asked to step into no longer aligned with the direction my life was heading. I valued the salary I had earned through education and dedication, and I knew the schedule shift would not work long term for me. I walked out of the room, called my mom, and asked, “Am I overreacting?” She told me no. She told me to trust my intuition. And for the first time in months, my intuition felt crystal clear. I sat at my desk, opened my laptop, and typed my resignation letter. It was short, respectful, and to the point — simply stating that I was leaving to run my business full time. No explanations. No back and forth. Just clarity. I took the leap. Even though: My husband was also self-employed We were in the middle of building a home We didn’t have the financial safety net most people wait for I trusted myself anyway. We still had a house to build, which made the timing feel even crazier, but something in me knew it was the right leap at the right moment. And that decision changed our future. What Followed After I Walked Away January arrived, and I hit the ground running. I rebuilt my business from the inside out. I structured it. I marketed it. I refined my offers. I followed the systems I had learned through coaching. My business grew fast and strong. The four figure months became consistent five figure months. Recurring revenue climbed. Clients came in with clarity and consistency. And the pressure that once lived on my chest disappeared. One year later, I now pay myself more than I ever would have been paid in my previous role. Our home build accelerated too. When I was working full time, our move in date was projected for October 2026 . Now, we’re on track to move in May 2026 . I used to think leaving would delay our future. Instead, it accelerated it. That feels like a pretty clear sign I made the right choice. And the best part, the part that still makes me emotional when I think about it? If I hadn’t left, I never would have experienced maternity leave the way I did. I got to be home with Jett every day, soaking in moments I would have missed behind a desk. Not rushed. Not stressed. Not handing him off at six weeks old. I got to watch him grow in real time. I got to soak in every smile, every stretch, every new milestone. And I still get to work from home and be present in his daily life in a way I once thought was impossible. I am so close to stepping into the future self I wrote about in that one page assignment. Once we move into our home, I know I will step fully into her. I’m now standing inches away from the future self I wrote about in that assignment, the one I never could have become if I stayed. One Year Later Leaving didn’t just give me a new career path. It gave me my life back. This past year has been full of growth, clarity, purpose, and peace. Not because I left out of anger, but because I left with intention. I loved the season of my life where that job served me. And I’m grateful for the moment I realized it was time for something new. I walked away not to escape something, but to become someone. And one year later, I’m proud of who she has become.

  • Heavy Work Weeks, Big Goals, and a Dickens on the Strand Review

A Week Dedicated to Catching Up This past week was all about childcare, focus, and getting major projects off my plate. I spent the entire week out of town so I could work uninterrupted while still having help with Jett. It was exactly what I needed. On Monday I worked 9.5 hours. Tuesday was 13.5. Wednesday was 10. And for the first time in a long time, I feel truly caught up. Business is thriving, projects are moving, and I finally have the mental clarity that comes from sitting down and knocking out the work that has been sitting and waiting. Sometimes you just need to change your environment and let someone else help with the baby so you can reset your workflow. A Thought I Keep Coming Back To While driving this week, I caught myself thinking about my long term goal. Since I was young, I have always said I want to be a millionaire by 30. And if I am honest, I still want that. Across all three companies, it is possible. I just need to keep growing, scaling, hiring, refining, and stepping into the CEO role more aggressively. Maybe I do need to write a full blog on the plan and the mindset behind that goal. Because the deeper I get into entrepreneurship, the more possible it feels. A Perfect Weekend at Dickens on the Strand I stayed in Galveston one extra day so I could go with family and friends to Dickens on the Strand. And let me just say, it exceeded all expectations. Here is my quick review: The atmosphere is magical. Think Victorian costumes, live performers, carolers, and the kind of old world charm that makes you forget about your phone for a minute. The vendors are amazing. Handmade goods, unique art, holiday treats, costumes, jewelry, and just about anything you could want for the Christmas season. The food is chef’s kiss. Warm cider, festival snacks, and so many options if you love exploring. The entertainment keeps you engaged all day. Dance shows, singing groups, street actors, costume contests. It felt like walking through a movie set. It is family friendly and stroller friendly. The only downside was the part where I forgot one of my pump pieces and literally could not pump the entire time. I went eight hours straight without pumping and by the end of the night I was dying. But honestly, a little wine made the discomfort bearable and I still had the best time. I cannot wait to go back next year. Back to the Grind This week is busy. Lots of client meetings, lots of project updates, and a full list of tasks to delegate. My long term goal is simple. Hold the meetings. Manage the strategy. And delegate everything else. I will get there one day. And hiring is a big part of that. We are still working on it. Reviewing applicants, planning interviews, and figuring out who will be the strongest fit as my right hand. Someone who can learn, lead, and eventually operate like a second version of me behind the scenes. We are close. Business Insight of the Week You can love your business and still need help. You can have big goals and still need rest. And you can want rapid growth while still being honest about your burnout points. Success is not about grinding endlessly. It is about building a structure where you are not the one doing everything. If you want to scale, you have to hire, delegate, and let go of the urge to do it all. That is the only way to move from operator to owner. Looking Ahead This week I will be catching up on meetings, onboarding new clients from our Black Friday deal, and continuing to refine workflows so my team is set up for success. I feel clear. I feel motivated. I feel like the work I did last week created the space I needed to grow this week. And if you have big goals like I do, here is your reminder. They do not happen by accident. They happen when you work hard, plan ahead, and build the support system it takes to make them real. Here is to another productive week. Here is to big goals. Here is to becoming who you said you would become.

  • Rest, Recharging, and a Black Friday Win

A Week of Rest and Recharging This past week was exactly what my mind and body needed. We traveled to Bobby Joe’s hometown and it felt like a complete reset. His parents really do know how to treat us. They fed me crab legs, helped with Jett, let me use the office, and just took care of us in every way possible. My stress immediately went down and, funny enough, my milk supply went up. I have been dealing with supply issues for a week, so having everything align at once felt like a blessing. Sometimes all you need is to be poured into a little bit. We drove back to College Station on Wednesday and the second we made it home, I was hit with this wave of excitement. I was about to walk into my first four days off in I don't know how long. As the owner of a growing business, I usually get one day off a week if I am lucky. It has been a nonstop season but I planned ahead for this break and I felt so giddy knowing it was finally here. Thanksgiving at Home Thanksgiving morning was perfect. We watched the parade in bed, drank coffee, and spent real quality time together. No rushing, no deadlines, no laptop in sight. Then we started cooking all our Thanksgiving favorites. Turkey, mashed potatoes, macaroni, green bean casserole. And yes, I made myself a couple mimosas while we cooked because it felt right. The only downside was a clogged duct that turned into a cluster situation. I spent most of the day trying to unclog it but thankfully it cleared by the evening. After dinner, we ate our favorite pie from our favorite realtor Farrah. Her Apple Crumb pie is dangerous. Bobby Joe and I ate the entire thing on Thanksgiving with zero shame and zero regrets. We ended the night cleaning the house and decorating for Christmas which honestly was the perfect reset button. Renaissance Festival and Family Time Friday was amazing. We took the day and went to the Texas Renaissance Festival and had the best time. My mom took care of Jett which let us fully enjoy ourselves. It is wild how different and refreshing things feel with even a little break. Family time, fresh air, fun costumes, and just letting loose after such a long stretch of work was exactly what I needed. Business Wins and Black Friday Meanwhile, in the business world, our Black Friday sale has been incredible. So many new inquiries, so many new relationships starting, and so many business owners taking advantage of a deal that really was designed to be a win for them. We extended the sale through Cyber Monday which is today, so this is the final day  to claim this offer before it closes. Planning Ahead and Looking Forward Saturday I fully vegged out and planned our upcoming Disney and Universal trip which made me so happy. I also started mapping out the final phase of work for our house. We plan to move in by our anniversary or by the end of May. It feels surreal. Lots of work ahead but Bobby Joe has started going out there on his own to make faster progress which helps my stress so much. Sunday, I packed up Jett and headed back out of town to my hometown. I will be here for the week so I can get extra help while Bobby Joe focuses on the house and I can focus on business. This week is a big one. The first of the month for my clients is always hectic. I have a ton of emails and texts waiting for me since I have been off for four days. But honestly, that break was so needed to avoid burnout and I feel recharged and ready for the week. Normally I would return to College Station on Friday but we are staying an extra day to go to Dickens on the Strand in Galveston. I have not gone in years and I cannot wait. Business Advice of the Week Listen to your body. Seriously. The signs of burnout do not lie. But the solution is not to disappear, panic, or ghost your work. The solution is to plan  your time off in advance. Set the calendar. Set the boundaries. Communicate them early. Honor them like you honor a client deadline. When you plan your rest, you return refreshed and your clients feel the difference immediately. Take the time. You will thank yourself for it. Looking Ahead We are stepping into December strong and I have so many client projects and onboarding calls lined up. It is going to be a full month but I feel ready for it. If you have been wanting backend support or considering the Black Friday deal, today is the last chance to claim it. After this, we are shifting into 2026 planning, new systems, and new onboarding structures. Let’s make December productive, calm, and intentional. You deserve that.

  • Gratitude, Growth, and Getting Ready for the Holidays

A Thanksgiving Week Filled With Growth Happy Thanksgiving week everyone. This week is already shaping up to be one of the busiest and most exciting of the year. We are onboarding five new clients and business feels like it is moving at full speed in the best possible way. Every time a new client joins us, I am reminded of how important it is to make people feel valued. I want every business owner we serve to feel supported, cared for, and deeply appreciated. Sending out client Christmas gifts last week felt so good. I also love sending ABJ anniversary gifts throughout the year. Gratitude is a core part of how I run this business. What do you do to make your clients feel special? I always love hearing what others do to create that wow factor. A Major Win: Our Database Project This week our team wrapped up a huge database project and honestly, it felt amazing. It took a lot of teamwork, time, communication, and creativity. But we had so much fun doing it. I have not worked on database or reporting work in quite a while, so jumping back into it reminded me just how much I love it. Training my interns through the process was a blast. Everything just clicked again like I never stopped using those skills. If your company needs a database, custom reports, or forms built to support your workflow, operations, or client processes, reach out. We can absolutely handle it. And we enjoy it. Our Black Friday Deal I am so excited to share our Black Friday offer because it is the best deal we have ever done. Fifty percent off your first two months of VA Essentials . This is our cancel anytime plan that gives businesses the opportunity to try us out with zero pressure. We created this offer for one reason. To give businesses the chance to see what real backend support can do for their growth, their time, and their clarity. If you have been curious about outsourcing or wondering what hiring a VA could do for your business, this is your sign. Taking Real Time Off With Thanksgiving and Black Friday coming up, our entire office is officially closed for the long weekend. My whole team is taking real time off and I am doing the same. We wrapped up multiple major projects and prepared for a busy December. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I can go into a holiday without feeling guilty or behind. I delegated everything for the weekend and I am ready for rest. Road Trip, Family Time, and Festival Fun Right now we are headed to Bobby Joe’s family home in Kemper to spend a few days with them. We will be there until Wednesday. After that, we are spending Thanksgiving at home, just the three of us. Then on Friday, we are meeting my family at the Texas Renaissance Festival. Jett gets to experience his first festival and I am honestly so excited. And this year we are dressing up. I have gone so many times and never dressed up once, so this year feels extra fun. House Projects: Time to Get Back on Track In house world, we have a long list of things to do and I am feeling motivated again. Bobby Joe will be heading out there during the week while I am with my mom so we can start chipping away at tasks again. We need to get back on schedule and having a little extra help with Jett will make a huge difference. Business Tip of the Week: Protect Your Time Here is my advice for this holiday week. Take the time off. Set the auto-reply. Log out. Life is short. Family is everything. Rest matters more than you think. If you are constantly in grind mode, you are missing the moments that actually make your life meaningful. Step back, breathe, and be present with the people around you this week. Your business will still be there on Monday. Your clarity and peace will be better for it. Looking Ahead Next week is full of new clients, major projects, and the last stretch of 2025. December is always a whirlwind, but I am feeling ready and grounded heading into it. If you are thinking about getting backend support before year end, now is the perfect time to reach out. Visit abjchapmanservices.com  to explore our services or book a consult. Have the happiest Thanksgiving week. Enjoy your family, enjoy the food, enjoy the break. You deserve it.

  • Burnout, Black Friday Prep, and a Big Week Ahead

Balancing Burnout and Business This week was busy as usual. Client work, consults, meetings, new projects, and backend planning all collided into one big wave of activity. Business is absolutely booming, and I am beyond grateful for the momentum. But at the same time, I could feel burnout creeping up. It is a weird mix of being energized by success while also realizing your body and brain are begging for a reset. Thankfully, I spent the week in Galveston with family. It was exactly the slowdown I needed. Jett had both grandparents helping. I got home cooked meals. I did not touch a single dish. I had real help with the baby so I could relax and also stay caught up with client work. It felt like someone hit a reset button on my nervous system. A Weekend of Hard Work and Fresh Air Once we got back home, it was full on house building mode. I spent the entire weekend floating and taping. As I write this on Sunday night, I feel it in every muscle. My neck from looking up at ceilings. My calves from ladder climbing. Even my hands are sore. But it felt incredible. I did not even realize how hard I was working because the process is so satisfying. It reminded me of icing a cake. Smooth, rhythmic, and oddly calming. Most importantly, it was nice to step away from the laptop. As entrepreneurs, we forget how healing physical work and fresh air can be. When burnout hits, your first instinct is usually to push through. Instead, try doing something totally unrelated to business. It gives your mind a chance to breathe and creativity a chance to come back to life. Black Friday is Almost Here We are officially in Black Friday countdown mode, and this year’s deal is huge. If you have been on the fence about hiring us, this is the moment to follow ABJ Chapman Services on Facebook and Instagram so you do not miss the announcement. This offer is perfect for people who have been wanting to outsource or get help with backend operations but have not committed yet. Our team has been preparing behind the scenes, refining systems, and getting ready to onboard new clients quickly and smoothly. Current clients can earn one hundred dollars off their next month with a successful referral. This is the time to send people our way. Coached by Jade Updates Coached by Jade is also getting a full refresh. The 90 day program will stay, but I am shifting my focus to ongoing coaching because that is what my clients want. They want long term guidance, weekly accountability, and someone who grows with them. The Backend Boss Membership aligns with this perfectly, offering continuous support at a more accessible commitment level. I am excited to roll out these updates in the coming weeks. Hiring Update We are still preparing to hire a new team member, a true second me. I plan to schedule interviews once a few large projects move off my plate. The goal is still to make this hire before the end of Q4. I am eager to find the right person who can think at a high level, support clients deeply, and help us scale properly. A Big Announcement: I Am Speaking at BNI On Tuesday, November 18th , I will be the featured speaker at BNI in Bryan at C&J BBQ . Anyone is welcome to attend and I would genuinely love to have you there. If you want to learn more about ABJ Chapman Services, how we help business owners, what we do, and my background, this is the perfect time to hear it directly from me. This talk will be somewhat similar to my One Million Cups presentation earlier in the year, but I will have more time to go deeper and answer questions. I am excited, nervous, and honored all at once. Your support would mean a lot. Baby Jett Update Jett turned three months old this week, and he is the sweetest little boy. Over thirteen pounds. Smiley. Happy. Curious. Growing fast. He sits in my lap while I work and loves to be involved in my day. It makes everything feel sweeter and more purposeful. Looking Ahead The next week will be focused on finishing projects, preparing for Black Friday, continuing to streamline systems, and mentally prepping for a very full holiday season. If you are a business owner, start planning your end of year schedule now. Block off your holiday time. Communicate dates to clients. Prepare for the seasonal slowdowns or spikes. And if you know you need backend support before the year ends, this is the time to take action. Visit abjchapmanservices.com  to learn more or book a consult. Let’s end the year with momentum, clarity, and growth.

  • Gearing Up for the Holidays

Organized Chaos and Growth This week was chaotic in the best way possible. Between client meetings, new consults, and projects ramping up, I was working more than ever. Most days were over 8 hours , with 10 hours on Thursday  and 11.5 on Saturday . It’s a lot, but it’s a good problem to have. Having my mom in College Station this week made all the difference. I could focus on client work, delegate more effectively, and get ahead on projects. Next week, we’ll be in Galveston , and she’ll be helping again, so I’m hoping to keep the same rhythm. My team has really stepped up too, taking on more ownership, and even my husband has been helping lighten the load. It’s one of those moments where you realize that the systems you’ve built, both in business and in life, are actually working. Black Friday Is Almost Here Our Black Friday deal  is coming soon, and let me just say, it’s a huge one. If you’ve been on the fence about hiring us, now’s the time to follow us on Facebook and Instagram  so you don’t miss the announcement. This deal is perfect for business owners who have been curious about outsourcing or automating but haven’t taken the leap yet. We’ve been prepping hard behind the scenes, streamlining systems, and getting ready for an influx of new clients. I’m genuinely excited to see who joins the ABJ family during this next chapter. Coached by Jade: A Refresh That Reflects Real Life Coached by Jade  is going through a complete refresh. One that better reflects how I’ve been serving my clients this past year. The 90-day program  has been great and it’ll still be available, but my focus is shifting to long-term, ongoing coaching . Most of my clients want a coach who is with them every step of the way, not just for a set time frame. They want support that grows as they grow, and that’s exactly what I’m leaning into. The Backend Boss Membership  fits this model perfectly too. It’s designed for entrepreneurs who want consistent accountability, structure, and guidance. Between coaching and membership, I’m building a community of business owners who don’t just get advice, they get lasting partnership. Life, House Projects, and a Little Sanity Outside of business, I get to spend more time working on the house this upcoming weekend. Floating, taping, and installing lights as usual. We’re finally seeing spaces come together. It’s slow progress, but it’s progress. My dad and husband have been working hard on the last two rooms, and I’m excited to get back out there next weekend. Lately, I’ve been rewatching tutorials on how to tape and float more efficiently  because I realized I’ve been too detailed in one spot at a time. It’s funny how perfectionism follows you from business to drywall. And to my fellow mompreneurs , I’ll be honest... I’m struggling to find true “us” time with my husband. Between running businesses and caring for Jett, personal time feels like a luxury we haven’t quite figured out yet. We’re not stressed about it, but if you’ve cracked the code on how to make time for date nights, send tips my way. Holiday Boundaries and Intentional Rest The holiday season is creeping up fast, and I’ve already decided to take four days off during Thanksgiving weekend . Those days are sacred. No work, no email, no notifications. If you run a business, do yourself a favor and plan your downtime now. Block your calendar early. Communicate those dates to clients. Use that time to rest and reset before the final stretch of the year. You’ll thank yourself later. I plan to come back from Thanksgiving recharged and ready for a strong December, which is full of projects, content, and final-quarter goals. Looking Ahead The next few weeks will be packed with client work, hiring interviews, and wrapping up big projects before the holidays. My goal is to hire by December 31st , and I’m confident we’ll accomplish that once I find a time to sit down and schedule the interviews. If you’ve been thinking about getting backend support, now is the time . Between the upcoming Black Friday offer, refreshed coaching options, and a team that’s growing stronger every week, there’s never been a better time to take action. Visit abjchapmanservices.com  to explore our services or book a consult. Let’s make the end of 2025 your strongest season yet.

  • Progress, Projects, and Perspective: Building Businesses and Houses

Another Wild Week in Business This week was insane as usual. Between client meetings, new consults, and fresh projects kicking off, the pace hasn’t slowed down one bit. But honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Business is good, clients are thriving, and every week feels like another step toward the bigger vision I’ve had for years. We also officially announced our open position , and I couldn’t be more excited. We’ve already received several great applications, and I’m hoping to see even more come through before we start the review process. The idea of bringing on a new team member who can grow with us and eventually become a key player is thrilling. Every hire is a milestone, it’s proof that the business is scaling the right way. Back on the Build This weekend, I finally got to return to working on our house, and it felt amazing. There’s something so grounding about switching gears from digital work to physical progress. I spent the weekend floating and taping drywall  and even installed a few new lights so we can actually see now that the spaces are enclosed. We’re getting so close to the finish line, but anyone who’s ever built a home knows that “almost there” can still mean a long road ahead. Still, every small step counts, and seeing the progress reminds me that building a home isn’t all that different from building a business both require patience, planning, and the willingness to get your hands dirty when it matters most. Help Is on the Way This week and next, I’ll have my mom staying with me, which means extra hands for baby Jett and more dedicated focus time for business projects. I’m beyond grateful for that. Running a business with a baby in tow takes balance, flexibility, and a whole lot of grace. Having help means I can focus deeply on growth again something I’ve been craving since coming back from maternity leave. If you’re in that same season of balancing family and business, I see you. The best thing you can do is accept help when it’s offered and give yourself the freedom to prioritize what matters most that day. Holiday Season Prep for Business Owners We’re also prepping behind the scenes for our Black Friday deal , and let me tell you, it’s going to be a good one. I can’t share details just yet, but if you’ve been considering working with us or testing out our services, this is your sign to stay tuned. It’ll be the perfect opportunity for business owners who have been curious but haven’t taken the leap yet. Speaking of the holidays, this is your reminder to start preparing now . Order your client or team Christmas gifts early. Update your out-of-office message and block time off your calendar. Make sure your systems are ready to handle the year-end chaos. The more you can prepare this month, the smoother December will feel and you’ll actually be able to enjoy the holidays instead of scrambling through them. The Real Difference Between a VA and a Backend Partner Something that came up in a few conversations this week was how different we are from the typical “virtual assistant” model. And it really made me reflect on how to describe what we do best. At ABJ Chapman Services , we aren’t just VAs. We’re backend partners . That means we’re not just checking boxes or completing tasks. We’re actively finding ways to make your business better such as automating your systems, improving your efficiency, helping you stand out, and ultimately, making you more money. Here’s what that looks like in practice: If we see an inefficiency, we fix it. If there’s a missed opportunity for automation, we create it. If your processes could be improved, we’ll design the system that does it. We don’t just take work off your plate. We optimize  what’s on it. And when you look at the cost compared to hiring an employee, we’re not just an affordable option, we’re a smarter one. So if you’ve been on the fence about hiring backend support, this is your sign. Stop waiting for the “perfect time.” The perfect time is when your plate is full and your growth is being held back by doing everything yourself. That’s when we step in and change everything. Looking Ahead Between hiring, house-building, and prepping for the holidays, the next few weeks are going to be full. But I’m feeling optimistic, energized, and ready. I’m grateful for every client who trusts us, every project we get to take on, and every team member who makes the business stronger. The work is never done but that’s the beauty of growth. If you’ve been thinking about scaling your business or bringing in backend support, let’s chat. Visit abjchapmanservices.com  to learn more about our services or book a consult  to see how we can support your business goals. Here’s to building homes, teams, and businesses that last.

  • Scaling, Systems, and Sleepless Nights: My Wildest Week Yet

A Week of Momentum and Mayhem This week has been insane in the best and most exhausting way. Honestly, I should start writing this blog as the week unfolds because by the time Sunday rolls around, so much has happened that it all feels like a blur. Most days, I clocked over 8.5 hours of work , and that’s while watching a baby full-time. Somehow, between bottle prep, diaper changes, and feeding sessions, I managed to stay on top of client projects, onboarding, and meetings. Jett has started smiling more and settling into a predictable rhythm. If we stay consistent with feeding him, changing him, and keep to the schedule, he gives me longer stretches to focus and get things done. For any parents working from home, that’s the secret sauce: routine equals freedom. Business in Overdrive Last week alone, I had four new consults , and each one made me pause and appreciate how far my business has come. There’s something deeply satisfying about realizing that all the systems you built, the automations, templates, and SOPs, actually work. I’m especially grateful for my onboarding templates . If you’re a service provider and you don’t have standardized processes for bringing on new clients, stop what you’re doing and make one. A reusable onboarding system isn’t just efficient, it builds trust, saves hours, and ensures your clients always get a consistent, high-quality experience. If you’re curious what we do at ABJ Chapman Services , here’s a peek at how our Virtual Assistance Services  can support your business growth: Email management and calendar organization Client communication and CRM upkeep Data entry and process tracking Payroll support and reporting Invoicing and payment reconciliation Automation setup and workflow optimization Website and backend maintenance We don’t just manage your business, we help it move smoother, faster, and smarter. The Power of Connection This week was full of reminders that relationships drive business. I had some incredible 1-2-1s with BNI peers , and each one reignited my passion for networking. It’s so easy as a business owner to stay in the “doing” mode, head down, grinding out projects, but connection is where growth happens. Every time I sit down with other entrepreneurs, I walk away with new insight, clarity, and collaboration ideas. If you’ve been feeling disconnected lately, take this as your nudge to reach out to someone in your network. Schedule a coffee chat or a Zoom call. You never know where one conversation might lead. A Dallas Trip to Remember Among the chaos, I snuck in a quick trip to Dallas  to visit one of my clients in person and yes, we brought Jett along. It was an amazing weekend. My husband had lessons and a camp nearby, so while he worked, Jett and I got some mom-and-baby time in. We had a lazy Saturday in the hotel room (which was heavenly after weeks of constant motion) and enjoyed reconnecting as a family away from home. The best part? Seeing my client face-to-face. There’s something powerful about meeting the people you work with in real life, the energy is different, the collaboration feels deeper, and the relationship strengthens tenfold. Delegating to Grow One of my biggest wins this week was delegating more . Not everything, but enough that I felt a noticeable weight lift off my shoulders. Delegation isn’t easy, especially for entrepreneurs who’ve built their business from scratch but it’s necessary. Every task you hand off gives you more time to focus on strategy, creativity, and leadership. Even if it’s small, start somewhere. Maybe that’s handing off email sorting or having someone schedule your social posts. You don’t need to give away everything at once. Just lighten the load enough to breathe. Looking Ahead This coming week is already jam-packed. Monday and Tuesday are meeting-heavy, but Wednesday and Thursday open up, giving me space to focus on some big internal projects and client system builds. We’re also officially posting our open position  for a Business Support Assistant . I’ve already had a few strong candidates come in just through word of mouth, and I’m so excited to find and train the right person to grow into a second me. Business growth feels different this time, steadier, more strategic, and more sustainable. Scaling isn’t just about saying “yes” to more clients; it’s about building the infrastructure to support that growth without burning out. Business Insight of the Week This week’s takeaway is simple: build your business to run even when you’re busy. If your operations depend on you showing up every minute of every day, you don’t own a business, you own a job. Start systemizing now. Automate onboarding, document your processes, and train your people. The goal isn’t to do less work, but to do smarter work , the kind that gives you freedom instead of taking it away. Here’s to momentum, balance, and building businesses that thrive even in the busiest of seasons.

  • From Overwhelm to Opportunity: My First Week Back in Full Business Mode

The Blog Is Still Free! This blog is still completely free to read , and I’m so glad you’re here. Each week I share my behind-the-scenes reality of running a growing business, raising a baby, and building a home all at once. If you find inspiration or guidance here, consider sharing it with a friend, client, or fellow entrepreneur who might need a reminder that balance is possible, even in chaos. Back to Business (For Real This Time) This week was my first official week back in full business mode , and wow, what a whirlwind. From meetings and consults to onboarding new clients, my calendar was bursting at the seams. I also made my return to BNI  and jumped right back into networking events  like WE Lunch Bunch . It felt amazing to reconnect with my community and get back into that collaborative energy that fills my creative tank. Maternity leave gave me a slower-paced season, but this week was the reminder that business never really slows down, it just changes shape. And that’s okay. The momentum that came with my return showed me that ABJ Chapman Services is growing faster than ever, and it feels like all the effort from earlier this year is finally paying off. Looking ahead, this upcoming week already has three consults , multiple client check-ins, and several new projects kicking off. Busy? Absolutely. But it’s the best kind of busy. The kind that comes from doing work you love and seeing your systems actually work. Quarterly Planning and Big Realizations We had our Quarterly Planning Day  on Saturday, and as always, it was full of clarity, challenges, and a few surprises. The biggest realization? Growth brings problems but they’re the kind of problems worth having. As we reviewed the quarter, I noticed something wild. In Q3 , our VA client base doubled.  That means double the deliverables, double the communication, and yes, double the delegation. It’s both exciting and overwhelming because it forces me to step back and evaluate what’s on my plate. We mapped out my task list during our meeting, and it became clear that if I want to keep scaling, I have to offload more (even after offloading a lot during maternity leave) . So, I made a big decision. I’m officially hiring by the end of Q4 . If you or someone you know has a passion for operations, loves efficiency, and maybe even has an interest in automation or coaching, this could be the perfect opportunity. I’m looking for someone to train as my “second me”. Someone who doesn’t just execute tasks but thinks like a strategist. Being a VA at ABJ isn’t just about doing work for clients. It’s about guiding them, coaching them, and helping them optimize . I want to teach someone how to think big-picture while still managing the details. If that sounds like you, stay tuned. I’ll be posting more about the position soon on social media. Reconnecting With My Body and Mind In more personal news, I finally got cleared by my doctor after my C-section. Recovery has been a long road, but as of this week, I officially got the green light to start working out again . On Sunday, I did my first workout and it felt incredible. I kept it simple: some squats, light weights, and a few bird dogs with Jett giggling beneath me. There were even some feeding breaks mid-workout, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Movement has always been a big part of my life, and after months of rest, my body was craving it. Within just one workout, I felt like my brain switched back on. I felt clearer, sharper, and more motivated than I’ve been in weeks. It’s amazing how something so small can change your whole mental outlook. I also started focusing on nutrition again. I had two protein shakes, a balanced high-protein meal, and for the first time in months, I felt in control of my body again. It’s not about “bouncing back". It’s about feeling strong, capable, and centered . Baby World Updates Jett is thriving. He has been sleeping through the night (hallelujah!) and eating like a champ. This week he finished his first five-ounce bottle, and I was in complete shock. My tiny newborn suddenly feels like a growing little boy. He’s also discovered his voice. And by that, I mean his blood-curdling scream  whenever his diaper is even slightly wet. I’m talking high-pitched, full-drama, “the world is ending” screams. If any moms out there have tips on how to teach a baby that wet diapers are not emergencies, please let me know! Every day with him feels like an adventure. Equal parts exhausting and joyful. Homebuilding Progress Our house is coming along, though slowly. My dad and husband are finishing up the last two rooms of drywall, and our next house-building weekend  is set for November 1st . I plan to go out there and help with floating and taping , which might sound strange, but I absolutely love it. It’s oddly therapeutic. It reminds me of icing a cake. Smoothing, perfecting, and stepping back to admire the finish. It’s also a good mental break from the day-to-day digital world. My only dilemma is figuring out how to pump and store milk during those long workdays, but I’m determined to make it work. This Week’s Business Advice This week’s reminder is simple but powerful: get up and get moving. Sitting still can drain you far more than movement ever will. That one day I worked out reminded me how connected physical movement and mental clarity are. Whether it’s a 10-minute walk, stretching between meetings, or doing a quick workout during lunch. movement sparks momentum. So if you’re a business owner who’s feeling mentally stuck, get up. Move your body. You’ll be amazed at how quickly your creativity and focus return. Looking Ahead This next week is shaping up to be another packed one filled with consults, onboarding, client updates, and more behind-the-scenes progress for Q4. But I’m walking into it with energy, gratitude, and balance. If you’ve been thinking about hiring help or becoming a VA, now’s the time. Reach out to me through my website at abjchapmanservices.com/contact  or learn more about what we do at abjchapmanservices.com . Here’s to growth, grit, and the power of movement—both in business and in life.

  • From Road Trips to Quarter Planning: Finding Balance After the Chaos

The Blog Is Now Free! Before I jump in, a quick reminder that this blog is free to read . Every week, I share my honest take on running a business, raising a newborn, and building a life that’s full of purpose (and a little chaos). If you enjoy reading, consider sharing it with another entrepreneur or new mom who could use a dose of real-life encouragement. Life Lately: 28 Hours of Road Trip Chaos This past week has been a whirlwind. We drove 15 hours to South Dakota  for my husband’s nephew’s funeral. It was an emotional trip filled with heavy moments, long drives, and quiet reflection. While it was hard to see everyone under such difficult circumstances, there was comfort in being together as a family. Jett got to meet many relatives for the first time, which brought small moments of light to an otherwise sad week. Traveling with a newborn was an adventure in itself. Between feeding breaks, diaper changes, and countless stops to stretch, the trip took much longer than expected. We learned very quickly that traveling with a baby by car is far more work than we ever imagined. I think it’s safe to say that next time, we’re flying . We got home Friday morning around 3 a.m. completely exhausted. But rest wasn’t an option because the next day was our 5th Annual ABJ + Texas Training Tailgate . Friday was a blur of errands, shopping, food prep, and packing. Even with little sleep, we pulled it off. Saturday was another long day of setup, hosting, and cleaning up afterward. The turnout was great this year. We spent time laughing, catching up, and relaxing, which made all the effort worth it. The exhaustion was real, but so was the gratitude. Back to Business Even in the midst of travel and chaos, I’m proud of how the business ran. I delegated tasks effectively, and even with a few projects temporarily paused, nothing fell apart. That’s the beauty of a strong team and a solid foundation. Now that Q4 has officially started , it’s time to refocus. I’ve been deep in quarterly planning mode, reviewing goals and setting the stage for what I want the rest of the year to look like. One of my top priorities is hiring or promoting someone who can grow into a “second me.” That’s no easy task. My role spans so many areas: operations, automation, marketing, development, and client strategy. That it takes a special kind of person to blend creativity, problem-solving, and structure. But finding that person is key to scaling sustainably. I want someone who doesn’t just do the work but can think, plan, and lead with the same level of ownership and passion. Returning From Maternity Leave This week also marks my official return from maternity leave.  It feels strange but exciting to be back in the rhythm of things. I’ve missed my clients, my projects, and the daily conversations with my team. That said, my routine looks nothing like it used to. Jett still runs the show, and I’ve learned that productivity looks different these days. I work when he lets me. Some days that’s during nap time, and others it’s at midnight. And that’s okay. To all my fellow business owners and parents: your productivity doesn’t have to fit a perfect mold. Progress is progress, even if it comes in short bursts between bottle feedings and diaper changes. Lessons from the Week This week taught me a few key lessons that I want to pass on to other entrepreneurs: Delegate and trust your people.  You can’t do it all, and you shouldn’t have to. Build people up so they can step in when life happens. Perfection isn’t the goal — progress is.  You can’t control everything, but you can keep moving forward. Rest when you can, even in chaos.  Exhaustion clouds judgment, creativity, and leadership. Find small ways to recharge, even if that’s a quiet 10 minutes with your coffee. Looking Ahead This week is all about catching my breath, supporting my husband after an incredibly emotional couple of weeks, and rebuilding structure in both home and business life. My focus is on family first and business second because when home feels strong, work follows naturally. On the business side, I’ll be finalizing Q4 goals, interviewing candidates, and continuing to refine my systems to prepare for the next phase of growth. And of course, I can’t end this post without one final highlight: the Tailgate was a success!  Huge thank you to everyone who joined and supported us. If you’ve been following along and want to build a business that gives you the flexibility to thrive even when life gets messy, check out the Backend Boss Membership  or book a consult  to start building the kind of systems that let you breathe. Here’s to Q4, to resilience, to family, and to showing up even when life is messy.

  • Loss, Leadership, and Letting Go: A Week of Reflection, Family, and Growth

The Blog Is Now Free! Before diving in, I have an exciting update... this blog is now completely free to the public ! For months, I’ve been sharing weekly behind-the-scenes updates about business, family, and life as a mompreneur. So many readers have reached out saying how much they love the transparency and inspiration, and I want more people to have access to that. If you’re new here, welcome, grab a coffee (or maybe a glass of wine) and join me each week for real conversations about what it actually looks like to build a business and a life you love. Life Lately: A Week of Travel, Loss, and Love This past week was heavy. We took Jett on his first road trip to Texas City for a funeral, where he met my church family for the first time. It was bittersweet. A beautiful reunion and a painful goodbye. Then, just that night, we faced another loss, this time on Bobby Joe’s side of the family. His nephew passed away unexpectedly. As I write this, we’re on the road to Nebraska, traveling as a family to support his sister and loved ones. There’s something about holding your baby while processing loss that hits you differently. Every little coo, every breath reminds you how fragile and precious life is. I can’t imagine the pain of losing a child, and my heart breaks for the families experiencing it firsthand. Grace in the Grief In back-to-back weeks of loss, I was reminded of something every entrepreneur needs to hear: your business can wait, but your family cannot. When tragedy hits, when life shifts, when your people need you, it’s okay to pause. It’s okay to take a day off, to move deadlines, to show up as a human instead of a business owner. For years, I believed that strength meant powering through anything. But now I understand that real strength is knowing when to stop. Your clients, your team, and your business will still be there when you return. Sometimes, stepping away gives you the perspective to come back stronger. Transitioning at Home This week was also an emotional one at home. My mom officially went back home after spending six weeks with us since Jett’s birth. It’s hard to put into words how much she’s done for us. She made my transition into motherhood so much smoother and reminded me that asking for help isn’t weakness, it’s wisdom. Now, with her gone, I’m focusing on supporting my husband as much as possible. He’s been carrying so much lately, and he needs me more than ever. As entrepreneurs, we often pour everything into our work, but the people we love deserve our best energy too. This week, my focus is on family... being present, patient, and intentional. Building My “Second Me” On the business side, things are moving fast. Client work is strong, new projects are launching, and opportunities keep rolling in. But one big goal is front and center right now: finding or developing my “second me.” It sounds simple, but it’s not. My role combines systems, operations, automation, marketing, development, and coaching. Finding someone who understands that mix or training someone to grow into it is a process. But it’s one I’m fully committed to. This next phase of growth is about scaling smart. Building systems that work without me. Training leaders who think like me but lead in their own authentic way. That’s how real freedom as a business owner is created. 5th Annual ABJ + Texas Training Tailgate Now for something a little more fun! We’re gearing up for our 5th Annual Joint Tailgate  hosted by ABJ Chapman Services  and The Texas Training Program! Date:  Saturday, October 11 Game:  Texas A&M vs. Florida Kickoff:  6:00 or 6:45 PM at Kyle Field Location:  Same spot every year Event Highlights: We’ll start at noon , with Bobby Joe there bright and early at 9 AM  to get everything set up. Free food✅ Free drinks✅ Free transportation✅ Yard games and good vibes RSVP here:   https://www.facebook.com/events/743035555274932 This is our fifth year hosting, and for the first time, I’m not overwhelmed. Maybe it’s because motherhood has given me perspective, or maybe I’ve finally learned the power of letting go and trusting others. Either way, I’m ready to relax and enjoy it this year. Looking Ahead This coming week, my goal is to focus on family, balance, and intentional leadership . I want to support my husband as he grieves, soak up time with Jett, and continue developing the structure that lets my business thrive even when life is unpredictable. If you’ve been following this blog and you’re navigating your own busy season, take this as your reminder to pause, reflect, and realign. And if you’re ready to start building systems that give you more balance, more freedom, and more time with the people you love, you can book a consult  or join the Backend Boss Membership  to start building the backend that supports your dream. Here’s to slowing down when needed, stepping up when called, and showing up for what truly matters, both in business and in life.
