Progress, Projects, and Perspective: Building Businesses and Houses

Another Wild Week in Business

This week was insane as usual. Between client meetings, new consults, and fresh projects kicking off, the pace hasn’t slowed down one bit. But honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Business is good, clients are thriving, and every week feels like another step toward the bigger vision I’ve had for years.

We also officially announced our open position, and I couldn’t be more excited. We’ve already received several great applications, and I’m hoping to see even more come through before we start the review process. The idea of bringing on a new team member who can grow with us and eventually become a key player is thrilling. Every hire is a milestone, it’s proof that the business is scaling the right way.

Back on the Build

This weekend, I finally got to return to working on our house, and it felt amazing. There’s something so grounding about switching gears from digital work to physical progress. I spent the weekend floating and taping drywall and even installed a few new lights so we can actually see now that the spaces are enclosed.

We’re getting so close to the finish line, but anyone who’s ever built a home knows that “almost there” can still mean a long road ahead. Still, every small step counts, and seeing the progress reminds me that building a home isn’t all that different from building a business both require patience, planning, and the willingness to get your hands dirty when it matters most.

Help Is on the Way

This week and next, I’ll have my mom staying with me, which means extra hands for baby Jett and more dedicated focus time for business projects. I’m beyond grateful for that. Running a business with a baby in tow takes balance, flexibility, and a whole lot of grace. Having help means I can focus deeply on growth again something I’ve been craving since coming back from maternity leave.

If you’re in that same season of balancing family and business, I see you. The best thing you can do is accept help when it’s offered and give yourself the freedom to prioritize what matters most that day.

Holiday Season Prep for Business Owners

We’re also prepping behind the scenes for our Black Friday deal, and let me tell you, it’s going to be a good one. I can’t share details just yet, but if you’ve been considering working with us or testing out our services, this is your sign to stay tuned. It’ll be the perfect opportunity for business owners who have been curious but haven’t taken the leap yet.

Speaking of the holidays, this is your reminder to start preparing now.

  • Order your client or team Christmas gifts early.

  • Update your out-of-office message and block time off your calendar.

  • Make sure your systems are ready to handle the year-end chaos.

The more you can prepare this month, the smoother December will feel and you’ll actually be able to enjoy the holidays instead of scrambling through them.

The Real Difference Between a VA and a Backend Partner

Something that came up in a few conversations this week was how different we are from the typical “virtual assistant” model. And it really made me reflect on how to describe what we do best.

At ABJ Chapman Services, we aren’t just VAs. We’re backend partners.

That means we’re not just checking boxes or completing tasks. We’re actively finding ways to make your business better such as automating your systems, improving your efficiency, helping you stand out, and ultimately, making you more money.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

  • If we see an inefficiency, we fix it.

  • If there’s a missed opportunity for automation, we create it.

  • If your processes could be improved, we’ll design the system that does it.

We don’t just take work off your plate. We optimize what’s on it. And when you look at the cost compared to hiring an employee, we’re not just an affordable option, we’re a smarter one.

So if you’ve been on the fence about hiring backend support, this is your sign. Stop waiting for the “perfect time.” The perfect time is when your plate is full and your growth is being held back by doing everything yourself. That’s when we step in and change everything.

Looking Ahead

Between hiring, house-building, and prepping for the holidays, the next few weeks are going to be full. But I’m feeling optimistic, energized, and ready.

I’m grateful for every client who trusts us, every project we get to take on, and every team member who makes the business stronger. The work is never done but that’s the beauty of growth.
