  • How a VA Can Work for You and What I Do for My Clients

Running a business is exciting  but also overwhelming . There are never enough hours in the day to tackle everything. From administrative tasks and client communication to marketing and operations. That’s where a Virtual Assistant (VA)  comes in. Many business owners think hiring a VA is just about outsourcing small tasks, but it’s so much more than that. A high-level VA (like me!)  doesn’t just take things off your plate. We help optimize your business, create systems, and free up your time so you can focus on growth. How a VA Works for You A VA is like your behind-the-scenes powerhouse . We handle the daily, weekly, and monthly tasks that keep your business running, so you don’t have to. But what really makes a difference is how we strategize and streamline . Not just complete to-dos. As a high-level VA , I go beyond admin work to set up automation, improve processes, and help business owners reclaim their time . Here’s what that looks like in action: Inbox Management & Client Communication  – Say goodbye to drowning in emails. I sort, prioritize, and respond to inquiries so you only focus on what truly needs your attention. Website & Tech Maintenance  – Whether you need a simple update or full-on troubleshooting, I keep your website and digital tools running smoothly. Automation & Process Optimization  – From setting up CRMs to streamlining workflows, I help businesses run more efficiently with less manual effort . Social Media & Marketing Support  – Scheduling posts, creating content, and helping you stay consistent with your brand presence. Travel & Scheduling Assistance  – Booking business trips, managing your calendar, and ensuring your time is spent wisely. The goal isn’t just to get things done . It’s to help your business operate smarter, not harder . What I Do for My Clients Every business owner has different needs, which is why my VA services are tailored to fit where you are now and where you want to go . I specialize in helping business owners who feel overwhelmed and stuck . Those who know they need help but aren’t sure what to delegate or how to create systems that work. That’s where I step in. Many of my clients come to me feeling like: They’re constantly playing catch-up  and can’t focus on growth. They need systems and automation  but don’t know where to start. They’re working 40+ hours a week but not moving forward . After working with me, they’re able to: ✔ Step out of daily operations and focus on their expertise ✔ Have clear, automated systems that save them time ✔ Feel confident their business is running smoothly, even without them handling everything When VA Services Alone Aren’t Enough If your business is struggling to grow  and the strategies you’ve tried aren’t working , it may be time to take things a step further. That’s why I offer a coaching program that combines business coaching and VA support . Helping entrepreneurs not only build strategies but also implement them effectively . This program is designed for business owners who: Feel stuck and aren’t sure what their next move should be. Need hands-on support in addition to strategic coaching. Want to scale but don’t have the right systems in place. If that sounds like you, let’s talk about how my coaching + VA support can help you finally start seeing results . Do You Need a VA? If you’re constantly overwhelmed , losing time to admin work , or struggling to scale because you’re buried in tasks , it’s time to bring in support . I work with business owners to identify where they’re wasting time , streamline operations , and get back to focusing on their zone of genius . If this sounds like what you need, let’s chat and see how I can help! Your business should work for you, not the other way around.  If you’re ready to stop doing it all alone, let’s build a system that supports you and helps you grow. Have questions about how a VA could fit into your business? Reach out and I’d love to help!

  • Preparing for Maternity Leave While Keeping My Clients a Priority

With 196 days to go until my due date on August 31, I’m already deep into preparation and not just for welcoming our baby but also for ensuring my business continues running smoothly. As an entrepreneur, stepping away for maternity leave requires careful planning, and my top priority is making sure my clients are fully supported well before baby arrives. Putting Clients First While Preparing for Maternity Leave I’ve been proactively hiring and training team members to handle daily, weekly, and monthly tasks, ensuring that every client continues to receive the same level of service they always have. My goal is for my maternity leave transition to be seamless, so no one feels the shift when I step away. Here’s what I’m doing now to prepare: Training My Team Well in Advance: I’ve been gradually handing off tasks so my team is fully comfortable managing client needs before I take maternity leave. Ensuring Clear Communication: Clients will always know who to reach out to and how to get support during my time off. Creating Systems for a Smooth Workflow: My team will have well-documented processes in place so that everything continues running efficiently. My Mom, My Assistant, and My Right Hand Many of you know that my assistant is my wonderful mom, and she will be playing an even bigger role while I’m on maternity leave. She already manages the bookkeeping department and daily operations, and she will also be responding to emails and assisting clients directly when needed. Because she knows my business inside and out, I trust her completely to keep everything moving smoothly, allowing me to step away with confidence. Staying Involved While Stepping Back One of the benefits of running my own business is the flexibility to design my maternity leave in a way that works for me and my clients. Because I have such a strong support system in place, I’ll still be able to check in, assist my new hires, and stay connected with clients as needed. This structure ensures that my clients continue receiving top-tier support while also allowing me to prioritize my family without stress or guilt. My Commitment to a Seamless Transition While my baby’s arrival is still months away, I want every client to know that I’m actively preparing now to ensure everything remains consistent and reliable. Whether it’s virtual assistance, business coaching, bookkeeping, or travel planning, I have a plan in place so no one experiences a gap in service. I’m grateful for the trust my clients place in me, and I’m committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. If you have any questions or want to discuss how I’m preparing for the upcoming months, I’d love to connect! Here’s to a year of growth, balance, and exciting new beginnings!

  • Preparing for Another Weekend of Working on Our House

Another weekend is here, which means one thing...we’re gearing up for more progress on our 6,000 sq ft barndominium ! Building a house from the ground up is no small task, but doing it alongside my husband and parents has made the process both rewarding and memorable. Every weekend, we chip away at our to-do list, turning this dream into reality, one project at a time. What We’re Working on This Weekend This weekend, we’re tackling some of the biggest milestones yet: Rough-in Plumbing  – Making sure all the pipes and connections are in place before we move forward with the next phase. Plumbing is one of those things you really  don’t want to mess up, so we’re taking our time to get it right. Electrical Trim Out  – We’re installing outlets, switches, and finalizing the wiring to bring power throughout the house. This step gets us one step closer to flipping the switch and seeing the house truly come to life. Pulling the Remaining A/V Cable  – With a fully wired  home setup, having the right A/V infrastructure is crucial. We’re finishing up pulling cables for the speakers, displays, and networking to make sure everything is set up exactly how we envisioned. The Team Behind It All One of the best parts about this build is that it’s truly a family effort. My husband and I, along with my parents, have been working together every step of the way. We split up the tasks, whether it’s plumbing and electrical or cabling and planning, and it’s been amazing to see how much we can accomplish as a team. It’s a lot of work, but knowing that we’re building this home with our own hands makes every long day, every late night, and every sore muscle worth it. Looking Ahead Each weekend brings us closer to move-in day, and while there’s still plenty to do, we’re making steady progress. Soon, we’ll be shifting our focus to insulation, drywall, and all the finishing touches that will transform this barndominium from a worksite into a home. Until then, we’ll keep putting in the time, celebrating the small wins, and reminding ourselves that all the hard work now will be so  worth it in the end. If you’ve ever built or renovated a home, you know how much work goes into it! I’d love to hear your best tips for staying motivated during a big project like this.

  • Gearing Up for Valentine’s as a Business Owner

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and as a business owner, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget to take a step back and truly enjoy the moments that matter. Whether you’re running promotions, managing client work, or just trying to keep up with the day-to-day, it can feel like just another busy day on the calendar. But Valentine’s is more than that. It’s a reminder to slow down, celebrate love, and prioritize what truly matters—both in business and in life. Balancing Business and Relationships One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned as an entrepreneur is that success isn’t just about the work I put into my business. It’s also about the relationships I nurture along the way. Being a business owner means I can work anytime, anywhere, but that doesn’t mean I should  always be working. Taking intentional time away to be present with my husband is just as important as hitting my business goals. Here’s how I’m making sure I create that balance this week: Scheduling time off  – Just like I schedule meetings and client work, I make sure to schedule dedicated time for my relationship. Valentine’s shouldn’t just be squeezed in between tasks. Unplugging from work  – I love what I do, but my husband deserves my full attention. Putting my phone away and being present makes all the difference. Celebrating in a way that fits us  – Fancy dinners are great, but what matters most is spending quality time together in a way that feels meaningful. It’s easy to think that pushing forward in business is the only way to grow, but the best ideas, energy, and inspiration often come when you step back and recharge with the people you love. A Very Special Valentine’s Week This Valentine’s week is extra special for me because I have a big  announcement coming on Friday night . It’s something I’ve been holding close to my heart, and I can’t wait to finally share it with you all. Stay tuned because this is one of the most exciting milestones of my life, and I couldn’t be happier to let you in on this journey. So, whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s with a partner, friends, or even a little self-love, I hope this week reminds you to slow down, enjoy the moment, and appreciate the people who support you because success is so much sweeter when you share it with those you love. Wishing you a Valentine’s filled with love, joy, and maybe even a little chocolate. ❤️ Stay tuned for Friday’s big announcement . I promise, it’s one you won’t want to miss!

  • A Major Shift: Restructuring My Business for Growth in 2025

One of the biggest takeaways from my annual planning retreat was realizing just how much my business had grown and that it was time for a major shift. Over the years, I’ve expanded my services, taken on more clients, and evolved into multiple areas that serve entrepreneurs in different ways. What started as a single business has now grown into three distinct brands, each with its own purpose and focus. So, after a lot of reflection, planning, and strategy, I’ve officially restructured my business. I now own and operate: ABJ Chapman Services  – Business administration/VA, bookkeeping, web/app development, corporate travel, and essential support services for business owners. Coached by Jade  – Business coaching and strategy for entrepreneurs who feel stuck and need clarity on how to scale. Magical Vacation Planner by Jade Nielsen  – Travel planning services to help clients create unforgettable vacations, from Disney trips to cruises and more. This restructuring wasn’t just about organization. It was about making sure my businesses reflect the full range of what I offer while setting each up for future growth. Why I Made This Change As my services expanded, so did my reach. I was working with entrepreneurs on business strategy while also providing administrative and bookkeeping services. At the same time, I was growing my travel planning business. Each of these areas was thriving, but I realized I needed more clarity not just for myself but for my clients. I wanted to create distinct spaces where each service could grow on its own, making it easier for clients to understand exactly how I can help them. What This Means for My Clients For current and future clients, this restructuring means: Clearer Services  – Whether you need business coaching, back-end support, or travel planning, you know exactly where to go. More Focused Growth  – Each business now has the space to expand with new offerings, better resources, and dedicated attention. Stronger Brand Identity  – My businesses are no longer lumped together under one name. Each now stands on its own with its own purpose and mission. This change makes it easier for me to deliver high-quality service while also giving my businesses the room to evolve and scale. Looking Ahead to 2025 With this restructuring, I’m excited to open my services to more clients and continue building each business in a way that aligns with my long-term vision. If you or someone you know is looking for business coaching, bookkeeping and administrative support, or expert travel planning, I’d love to connect. This shift is a major milestone for me, and I can’t wait to see where it leads. Here’s to 2025, a year of clarity, focus, and continued growth.

  • Preparing for My Company Annual Planning Meeting

As a business owner, one of my favorite times of the year is our annual planning meeting. It’s a chance to step away from the daily grind, reflect on everything we’ve accomplished, and map out an exciting vision for the year ahead. But what makes this time even more special is that it’s not just about business, it’s about connection. Reflecting on the Past Year Before I can dive into planning, I take time to look back on everything that’s happened over the past year. I review my wins, lessons learned, and even the challenges that shaped my journey. Some of the key questions I ask myself include: What were my proudest achievements this year? What areas of my business need more focus or improvement? Did I meet the goals I set last year? If not, what held me back? Looking back helps me move forward with clarity, knowing exactly where I want to focus in 2025. A Family Affair: Planning With My Mom As many of you know, my assistant is my wonderful mother. She joined my business in 2022 to run the bookkeeping department, and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Not only is she the most experienced bookkeeper I know, but she also brings a level of care and dedication that’s unmatched. I trust her completely, and it’s been so freeing to outsource this part of my business to someone I know will always give her best. Every year, my mom joins me at our annual planning retreat, and it’s something I truly look forward to. This year, we’re heading to Fredericksburg, a charming spot filled with German restaurants and beautiful wineries. While the days are dedicated to business planning, the evenings are for bonding. We laugh, share stories, and spend time together, which always strengthens our relationship and makes us an even better team. I can’t wait to enjoy delicious German food, explore the local wineries, and create new memories with her while laying the groundwork for an incredible 2025. Preparing for a Productive Meeting Planning for the year ahead takes preparation, so I’ve been working to ensure this retreat is as productive as possible. Here’s what I’ve been doing to get ready: Gathering Key Data : Reviewing my P&L, balance sheet, and client feedback to get a clear understanding of where my business stands. Organizing Ideas : Collecting all the ideas I’ve brainstormed over the year to decide which ones align with my vision. Refining My Vision : Revisiting my Vision/Traction Organizer (V/TO) to ensure my goals reflect my long-term plans. This groundwork sets the stage for a successful meeting, helping me turn big ideas into actionable steps. Setting Goals for 2025 Once reflection is done, it’s time to dream big. This is where I map out: Long-Term Goals : Where I want my business to be in 10, 5, and 3 years. Annual Goals : What I need to achieve in 2025 to move closer to that vision. Quarterly Rocks : The big priorities I’ll tackle in the first quarter to build momentum. Accountability Systems : Tools like weekly check-ins and monthly reviews to stay on track. Why This Meeting Matters This planning meeting isn’t just another task, it’s the foundation for everything I want to achieve. It’s a time to focus on the big picture, align my goals with my vision, and ensure I have a clear roadmap for success. What makes it even more meaningful is sharing this experience with my mom. Planning alongside her and combining our strengths has become a tradition I cherish deeply. Exciting Plans for 2025 This year, I’m taking on new clients and expanding my services to help even more entrepreneurs reach their goals. If you or someone you know is ready to grow, pivot, or take the next step in their business, I’d love to help. Referrals are always appreciated and rewarded! Here’s to a year of growth, connection, and success for my business and yours. Let’s make 2025 unforgettable!

  • Handling Stress as an Entrepreneur: How I Learned to Put My Health First

Entrepreneurship is one of the most rewarding journeys I’ve ever been on, but let me be real—it can also be stressful. For years, I tried to juggle everything: a full-time job, growing my business, and all the little tasks that come with building a dream. The pressure to always be “on” left me exhausted and, at times, completely overwhelmed. Eventually, I realized something had to change. If I wanted to succeed, I needed to put my health first. Here’s how I’ve learned to manage stress while staying true to my vision—and how you can too. Realizing I Could Work Anytime, Anywhere One of the most freeing lessons I’ve learned as an entrepreneur is that I don’t have to stick to anyone else’s schedule. I used to feel guilty if I wasn’t working nonstop, even when I was completely drained. But then I reminded myself: I built this business for freedom, not for burnout. Now, when I’m feeling overwhelmed, I pause and ask myself: What would feel good right now? Am I in the right mindset to do my best work? Sometimes, that means stepping away from my desk, even if it’s in the middle of the day. I might go for a walk, spend time with my husband, or take a break to clear my head. The beauty of being an entrepreneur is that the work will wait—and I’ll tackle it more effectively when I’ve recharged. Learning to Take Breaks (Without Guilt) For a long time, I believed taking breaks meant I wasn’t working hard enough. I’d push through exhaustion, telling myself that rest could wait. But guess what? That approach didn’t serve me—or my business. I had a moment not too long ago when I was staring at my to-do list, feeling completely stuck. Instead of forcing myself to keep going, I decided to take the afternoon off. I went for a run, made a good meal, and let myself just be . The next morning, I woke up with so much clarity and energy, I knocked out my tasks faster than I ever could have if I’d stayed glued to my desk. Taking breaks doesn’t mean you’re slacking. It means you’re smart enough to recognize that your best work happens when you’re rested. Listening to My Body Stress has a sneaky way of showing up in physical ways—tight shoulders, headaches, even exhaustion that sleep can’t fix. For a while, I ignored those signs. I thought I could push through. But over time, I realized my body wasn’t just complaining—it was sending me a clear message to slow down. These days, when I notice stress creeping in, I take action: I move my body : A walk, a run, or even just stretching can shift my mood instantly. I prioritize real fuel : Instead of skipping meals or relying on coffee, I make time for breakfast and drink more water (a work in progress, but I’m getting there!). I embrace mindfulness : Even five minutes of deep breathing can help me reset. These small habits have made a huge difference in how I handle stress. Putting My Health First The truth is, I’ve learned the hard way that you can’t pour from an empty cup. When I was working full-time while growing my business, I thought I had to be everything for everyone. But all it left me with was burnout. Now, I prioritize my health—and my business has been better for it. Here’s how I make it work: I schedule my health like a meeting : Every morning, I block out time for myself. Whether it’s a run, a quiet coffee, or journaling, it’s my time to recharge. I set boundaries : I’ve learned to say “no” when something doesn’t align with my goals or well-being. I celebrate progress : Even small wins matter. Acknowledging them reminds me of how far I’ve come. Building a Business That Aligns With My Life As entrepreneurs, we have the incredible privilege of creating our own paths. For me, that means designing a business that aligns with my vision, my goals, and my health. I’ve learned that it’s okay to take breaks, listen to my body, and let go of the guilt when I’m not working 24/7. Your business will thrive when you  thrive. So, if you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, give yourself permission to step back. Take care of yourself first—because you are your business’s most valuable resource. Here’s to building something amazing while staying healthy, balanced, and happy along the way.

  • Starting 2025 as a Full-Time Business Owner

The new year always feels like a fresh start—a time to set goals, make plans, and dream big. But for me, 2025 feels different. This year, I’m stepping into something I’ve worked toward for years: running my business full-time. After balancing my corporate career and growing business for so long, I’m finally all in. And let me tell you, it’s been both exciting and a little overwhelming. The Reality of Free Time When I sat down to plan my January calendar, I had this strange moment of panic. For the first time in my life, I had actual free time. No packed schedule of back-to-back corporate meetings, no late nights cramming in client projects after a full day at work—just open blocks of time. At first, I didn’t know what to do with myself. I’ve always thrived on being busy, so the idea of slowing down and having space to think felt almost…wrong. But then, I realized this free time wasn’t something to fear—it was the reward for all the hard work I’ve put in. It was an opportunity to finally pour all my energy into my business and my vision. Rewriting My Schedule I took a deep breath and started filling in my calendar with intention. Instead of cramming in tasks to fill every minute, I focused on creating balance. I blocked out time for business strategy, client work, and—yes—time for myself. One of the biggest shifts has been dedicating space to work on  my business, not just in  it. I’ve started mapping out long-term plans, brainstorming new services, and thinking about how I can better support my clients. And you know what? It’s been transformative. With this new clarity and focus, I feel more aligned with my goals than ever before. The Freak-Out Moment Of course, stepping into full-time entrepreneurship hasn’t been all smooth sailing. There was a moment when I looked at my calendar and thought, “What if I’m not doing enough?” That lingering fear of not being productive enough or not having a packed schedule creeped in. But I reminded myself: this is exactly what I’ve been working toward—a life with freedom, flexibility, and the chance to build something meaningful on my terms. Opening the Door to New Opportunities This year, I’m taking everything I’ve learned and using it to serve more clients and expand my offerings. With this extra time and focus, I’m officially opening up my services to new clients and taking on fresh projects. My services include: Business Coaching : Perfect for owners who feel stuck, don’t know how to set goals, or need help implementing and reaching them. EA/VA Services : Supporting business owners with executive and virtual assistant needs. Bookkeeping : Helping you stay on top of your financials and maintain peace of mind. Travel Services : Making planning seamless, so you can focus on enjoying the journey. Web Design : Crafting professional, user-friendly websites to elevate your business presence. If you’ve been waiting for the right time to work together, or know someone who could use support in growing their business, now’s the perfect time to reach out. Referrals are always rewarded and deeply appreciated! Here’s to 2025 Starting the year as a full-time business owner is a dream come true, and I’m so excited for what’s ahead. Whether it’s helping clients reach their goals, creating new programs, or building deeper connections, I know this is just the beginning of an amazing chapter. Here’s to a year of growth, balance, and success—for me, for you, and for all of us chasing our dreams. Let’s make 2025 unforgettable.

  • Why I Finally Quit My Full-Time Job to Go All-In on My Business

For years, I balanced my full-time corporate job and growing my business. It wasn’t easy—I spent early mornings working on my business goals, full days managing my team as an Engineering Manager, and evenings dedicated to client projects. While the journey was rewarding, I always knew I wanted more freedom and the chance to focus on my business full-time. This year, I finally made that leap. Quitting my full-time job wasn’t just about leaving a paycheck behind; it was about stepping into the life I’ve been building for years. Here’s how I knew it was time to take the plunge—and why it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Balancing Two Careers For the longest time, I thrived in the hustle of balancing both worlds. My mornings were spent planning my business’s growth, while my days were dedicated to managing a team of 11 in my corporate role. Evenings were for client work and delivering on the promises I made as an entrepreneur. While this routine worked, it left me with little space to breathe, dream, and grow. Over time, the pull to focus solely on my business became stronger. I started seeing real growth—new clients, new projects, and increased revenue. My business was no longer just a side hustle; it had transformed into a thriving company with endless potential. The challenge was clear: I couldn’t keep growing at this pace while splitting my time and energy. Something had to give. How I Knew It Was Time to Quit Deciding to leave my full-time job wasn’t something I did impulsively. I spent years preparing for this moment, and here are the key factors that helped me decide: Consistent Revenue Growth- My business had reached a point where the income was steady and growing. It wasn’t just a fluke—it was the result of years of consistent effort and strategic planning. I knew I could rely on my business financially. Systems and Processes in Place- By focusing on building strong systems, I created a foundation that allowed my business to run smoothly. This gave me the confidence that I could scale without the safety net of a corporate job. A Clear Vision for the Future- I realized my ultimate goal was freedom—the ability to build something entirely my own while supporting entrepreneurs in their journeys. My full-time job, as fulfilling as it was, no longer aligned with that vision. Support from My Clients and Community- Knowing my clients trusted and relied on me was a huge motivator. I knew I had built something worth investing in full-time. The Leap of Faith Quitting my job was both exciting and nerve-wracking. There’s a certain security that comes with a corporate paycheck, and letting that go is never easy. But what gave me peace of mind was knowing that I had prepared for this moment for years. When I officially gave notice, I felt a mix of emotions—relief, excitement, and a renewed sense of purpose. I wasn’t just leaving a job; I was stepping fully into the role of a business owner, ready to give my all to the company I’d been building. What Life Looks Like Now Since quitting my job, my days are completely my own. I’ve been able to pour my energy into scaling my business, supporting my clients, and creating new programs and services. The freedom to set my schedule, focus on my vision, and grow without limits has been everything I dreamed of—and more. The decision to quit wasn’t just about leaving; it was about choosing to bet on myself and the business I’ve worked so hard to create. And now, I’m more confident than ever that this was the right path for me. My Advice for Entrepreneurs Dreaming of Freedom If you’re thinking about leaving your full-time job to pursue your business full-time, here’s what I’d recommend: Prepare Financially : Make sure your business has consistent revenue and a strong foundation before taking the leap. Build Systems : Put processes in place so your business can run smoothly even as you scale. Have a Clear Vision : Know what you want your life and business to look like. Let that vision guide your decisions. Trust Yourself : Taking the leap is scary, but if you’ve done the work, you’re more ready than you think. Leaving my full-time job was one of the most challenging decisions I’ve made, but it was also one of the most rewarding. If you know a business owner dreaming of taking that leap, share this post with them—I hope it inspires them to believe in themselves and their vision, just as I did.
