Client Work in High Gear
This past week has been non-stop. Between client meetings, consultations, and wrapping up big projects, I’ve been in full-on prep mode before maternity leave. Every day has been about tying up loose ends, finishing deliverables, and making sure no client is left with an unfinished project.
A big focus has been training my team to take over the repetitive client tasks that keep our operations running smoothly. I’ve been meeting with them regularly, walking through processes, reviewing work, and making adjustments so that when I step back, nothing falls through the cracks.
One thing I’ve been emphasizing to clients lately is that services are not stopping. Some people assume that me going on leave means the work pauses. That has never been my plan. I have an incredible team behind me, and I’m still overseeing every ounce of their work. My role will shift, but my commitment to my clients won’t.
The House Moves Forward Without Me
This weekend marked my first “hands-off” work weekend for the house. My dad, mom, and husband took the lead while I stayed home. They tackled more drywall, reframed a few areas for a better fit, and worked through some plumbing punch list items. The finish crew is still busy floating, taping, and sanding down the massive 18-foot walls.
It’s coming along, but we’re definitely behind schedule. The good news? We have no strict move-in date, so the pressure isn’t unbearable. Every step forward still feels like progress.
Nursery: Check
The nursery is officially ready for baby Jett. Everything is clean, every piece of baby laundry is washed, and every teether and bottle has been prepped. The last step is organizing the smaller items so everything has a home before he arrives. It’s surreal walking into that room knowing that in just a couple of weeks, he’ll actually be here.
Baby Countdown Mode
This weekend I officially started all the natural induction methods to encourage Jett to make his appearance within the next two weeks. My doctor has expressed concern about his size, and while I would love for him to arrive on his own, we’re preparing for the possibility of an induction to help avoid a C-section and any complications.
The fatigue is real. Sleep is practically nonexistent... I think I wake up every hour now. My body is clearly in training mode for newborn life, and I’m ready to meet this little boy.
Looking Ahead
The next two weeks will be a balance of wrapping up work, finalizing small home and baby projects, and listening to my body. This is the busiest and most exhausting countdown I’ve ever experienced, but it’s also the most exciting.
Jett is on his way, my team is ready, and I’m soaking in the final stretch before everything changes.
See you next week.
