I Hired an Assistant for Myself: Why It Was the Best Decision for My Business (and My Sanity)

Just over a week ago, I was tagged in a post that stopped me in my tracks.
At the time, I was completely drained. I was behind on everything that wasn’t client work.
My rocks were untouched, admin tasks were untouched, and my own business goals were sitting on the back burner—again. The truth? I was putting everyone else’s needs above my own and running on fumes.
Meanwhile, my VA services were growing fast (eep!), and while I was so incredibly grateful, I was also overwhelmed. And that’s when it hit me: I constantly coach other business owners to delegate… and I wasn’t doing it for myself.
So I took my own advice and hired Nicole—my new assistant. And within just two days, I felt relief in a way I hadn’t in months.
This Wasn’t a Random Hire
This wasn’t just a quick fix. With a baby on the way, I knew I had to make serious moves to protect both my energy and my client work. I refuse to let anything slip during maternity leave, especially when it comes to serving my clients.
Hiring support wasn’t optional. It was a business decision—and a necessary one.
What Nicole Supports Me With
Nicole is already helping me:
Stay ahead of client communication
Keep internal systems organized
Make space in my day to focus on strategy and leadership
Clear the mental clutter that’s been building for months
She’s not just checking off to-dos—she’s helping me breathe again.
The Deeper Lesson
This whole experience reminded me of something powerful: we don’t have to do it all alone.
As women entrepreneurs, we carry so much. The vision. The pressure. The passion. Sometimes even the entire business. But real success doesn’t come from being the one who does it all. It comes from knowing when to lean on others, when to let go, and when to make space for help.
To every woman out here building something from scratch:You are allowed to rest, to receive, and to rise with support.Your business doesn’t have to burn you out to be brilliant.
Ready for What’s Next
Now with the help I have in place, I can take on more—and I’m excited to.
In April, I’m onboarding 2 new VA clients. Know someone who needs this kind of support? Refer a friend and get money off your next month.
Let’s build something amazing—without burning out in the process.
