Philly Weddings, Baby Kicks on the Dance Floor, and a Busy June Ahead

This past weekend was one of those memory-making moments I’ll be holding onto for a long time. Not only did I take two full days off (yes, completely off and my laptop only came out once), but we traveled to Philadelphia to attend my husband Bobby Joe’s cousin’s wedding, and it was everything we didn’t know we needed.
A Weekend Full of Connection
The wedding itself was beautiful, but what made it even more special was watching Bobby Joe reconnect with his mom’s side of the family after 22 years. You could feel the warmth, the stories, the joy. There’s something powerful about seeing where you come from and it was clear that this moment meant so much to him and to all of us.
His family welcomed me with open arms, and it felt like I’d always been a part of them. We’re already making plans to go back and have made it a priority to return within the next five years.
And of course, the dancing. You know I couldn’t skip the dance floor and apparently neither could baby boy. Jett was having a field day in there, kicking nonstop with the loud music and every move I made. It was such a surreal moment to be twirling around, surrounded by joy, with our baby dancing along in my belly.
Exploring Philly
Outside of the wedding, we packed in a bit of sightseeing and, of course, some good eats. We saw the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and even visited Benjamin Franklin’s grave.
But the real highlight? The food.
Cheesesteaks and Tastykake were a must.
And we got a table at Ralph’s, the oldest Italian restaurant in America.
I had the best spinach gnocchi and tiramisu I’ve ever tasted.
It was the perfect mix of family, food, history, and stepping out of our routine.
Back to Business and the Build
Now that we’re home, I’ve jumped straight into a full Monday catch-up. There’s a lot to do from emails, client updates, and prepping for another house-building weekend.
This weekend, we’re continuing insulation and starting blocking inside the walls. These are the less glamorous but super important steps that will lay the groundwork for what comes next. Every weekend puts us one step closer to move-in, even if there’s still a long way to go.
And let me just say... being pregnant and working inside a hot barndo isn’t for the faint of heart. My parents and husband are constantly reminding me to take it easy, and while it’s hard not to feel like I’m not doing enough, I’m trying to trust that this season is about balance.
Wrapping Up June with Intention
On the business side, I’m focused on onboarding two new clients, delegating as much as I can, and finishing major projects before July hits.
May and June are the final months I’ll be onboarding clients before maternity leave, and I want to make sure I give each new client the time and attention they deserve. My team is growing and now includes seven amazing team members, so I’m also continuing to mentor and train them as we head into this next chapter.
Two Weeks from the Third Trimester
I’m officially two weeks away from the third trimester, and it’s hard to believe how fast time is flying.
Emotionally? I seem to cry at every TikTok with a birth story. Physically? I’m slowing down, but still trying to move my body and rest when I can. Mentally? I’m nervous, excited, overwhelmed, and in awe of everything that’s ahead.
I’ve been given so much advice, and now I just feel ready to meet our son. It’s scary and beautiful all at once but I’m holding onto the joy of it.
A Little Reminder
No matter what season you’re in whether it’s building something, preparing for a new beginning, or just trying to keep up, remember that it’s okay to take breaks, to dance, to cry, and to celebrate along the way.
The to-do list will always be there. But these moments? These are the ones that matter.
Here’s to making space for them.
