Behind Schedule, Still Moving Forward

The Reality Check This Week
Well… we are officially behind on the house.
And not just a little behind.
We are about four weeks behind schedule.
It started when my husband had an opportunity come up to build a pickleball court. Since he has prior experience with sports courts, it was a great opportunity and one he should have taken. But it pulled two full weeks away from house progress.
Then I made a mistake.
I completely failed to account for the two weeks we would be gone for the conference and cruise. So just like that, two weeks turned into four.
And now we are here.
Managing the Stress Without Letting It Take Over
I would be lying if I said it is not stressing me out.
We had a timeline. We had a plan. I had a vision of moving in the weekend of our three year anniversary.
And now that is not happening.
It is looking more like the end of May.
That is hard to accept when you have been working toward something for so long. But I keep reminding myself of something important.
It is okay.
The house will still get done.
We will still move in.
Nothing is actually wrong.
The timeline just shifted.
And sometimes, that is just part of the process.
The Business Lesson in All of This
If there is one thing this week has reinforced, it is this.
It is okay to make mistakes.
I missed a major planning detail. I did not account for time correctly. And now we are adjusting because of it.
But life goes on.
The business does not fall apart. The house does not disappear. The progress does not reset to zero.
We just shift, adjust, and keep moving.
As business owners, we put so much pressure on ourselves to get everything right the first time. To plan perfectly. To execute flawlessly.
That is not real life.
Real growth comes from learning how to recover quickly when things do not go according to plan.
Preparing to Step Away
While all of this is happening, I am also preparing to head to Orlando for a conference, followed by a post conference cruise.
And honestly, I am really excited.
This trip feels like the perfect break from the day to day. A chance to learn, reset, and step away from the constant movement of work and house projects.
I am looking forward to new ideas, new connections, and just being in a different environment for a bit.
Sometimes stepping away is exactly what you need to come back stronger.
Looking Ahead
Yes, we are behind.
Yes, it is not what I originally planned.
But we are still moving forward.
The house is still being built.
The business is still growing.
Life is still good.
This next stretch will be about staying flexible, adjusting expectations, and continuing to make progress one step at a time.
Because at the end of the day, progress matters more than perfection.
